Start planning now to enter students in the third annual CNY Steamboat ChallengeThe design, build and compete event is slated for 9:00AM to 1:00PM Saturday, October 14, in the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST), 500 S. Franklin St., Syracuse.

Students (grades 4th – 12th) work in teams of 2 – 3 to make steamboats that are powered by the heat of a single tealight candle. On race day the students bring their completed boats to race on 3” of water in an inflatable raceway that measures 6” wide and 110” long. Students are judged on the speed of their boat, the team’s presentation to judges about how they built the boat and what they learned as well as the team’s creativity and innovation in designing the boat.
Making a steamboat can get a little complicated, so ASHRAE and the MOST are offering a training session:
Train the Trainer Workshop, September 23 from 9:30AM – 11:00AM, for teachers and parents (students are welcome), at the MOST. This session will include breakfast.
This training is FREE. Please RSVP to by Friday, September 22 at noon EST - seats are limited.
