Honorees at the eighteenth Celebration of Technology Awards Banquet, presented by the Technology Alliance of Central NY and the Technical Societies Council (photos of winners):

  • TECHNOLOGIST OF THE YEAR - John F. Kastler, National Grid (A resident of Central New York who has made recent outstanding contributions to advances and improvements in a STEM field, not limited to engineering.)
  • YOUNG TECHNOLOGIST OF THE YEAR - Lance Bradstreet, SRC (A resident of Central New York, 35 years old or less, who has made recent outstanding contributions to advances and improvements in a STEM field.)
  • STEM COMPANY OF THE YEAR - HealthWay Home Products, Inc. (A Central New York STEM company that has made recent outstanding contributions to new or innovative products, processing technologies, or productivity leading to enhanced business.)
  • STEM PROJECT OF THE YEAR - Probabilistic Assessment for Contributor Estimation (PACE), Jonathan D. Adelman and Michael A. Marciano, Syracuse University (A current outstanding technology project, invention, or process designed, invented, or constructed in Central New York.)
  • COLLEGE EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR -Michelle M. Blum, Syracuse University (An educator who has made outstanding contributions in STEM Education at the college level in Central New York.)
  • HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR - Brian H. Bealer, Auburn Enlarged City School District (An educator (Grades 9-12), not necessarily a teacher, who has made outstanding contributions in STEM Education at the high school level in Central New York.)
  • STEM OUTREACH, INDIVIDUAL - Mae Martel, student at Fayetteville-Manlius High School (A resident of Central New York who has increased interest in science or technology or expanded opportunities for people with limited access to science or technology.)
  • STEM OUTREACH, ORGANIZATION - Honeywell Hometown Solutions (An organization in Central New York that has increased interest in science or technology or expanded opportunities for people with limited access to science or technology.)
  • LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT - Harvey K. Schuman, SRC,  and Carl Bannar, Lockheed Martin
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
Our Celebration keynote speaker was Dr. Peter Saulson, a member of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) team that recently confirmed a portion of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity! Dr. Saulson's keynote speech is titled "Gravitational Waves: Detecting Ripples in the Fabric of Space-Time." Peter Saulson is the Martin A. Pomerantz '37 Professor of Physics at Syracuse University. He has been on the faculty at Syracuse since 1991, and served as Chair of the Department of Physics from 2010 to 2013.
