TACNY Community Collaboration

Although mostly catering to individuals, several technical societies were also members of the Technology Club. In 1963, a separate Technical Societies Council of Greater Syracuse merged with the Technology Club, with the Club named chair of a new Technical Societies Council. Various technical societies collaborate with TACNY on programs, including the Celebration of Technology Awards, and the Engineering Expo. Click to see a list of Technical Society Council member organizations, as well as other organizations promoting STEM in the community. TACNY helps to promote communitywide technology events, with listings in our event calendar and/or mailings to the TACNY members.

The second part of the TACNY mission statement is “to collaborate with like-minded organizations across Central New York.” TACNY provides sponsor funding, hosts a display table, and/or volunteers at the events of our community partners. Recent examples include all student competitions hosted by the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (Build ‘Em and Bust ‘Em, CNY Rocket Challenge, CNY Science & Engineering Fair, VEX Robotics, and CNY Steamboat Challenge), Maker Faire Syracuse, CNY Drones, CNY FIRST Robotics League, Science Olympiad, Symposium on Energy in the 21st Century, and others. TACNY members have participated in classrooms as guest speakers on careers in STEM.

TACNY is also represented on a number of regional STEM advisory boards including the CNY Tech Sector, CNY STEM Hub, NYS Technology and Engineering Educators Association, NYS STEM Education Collaborative

Specific information for TACNY partner events can be found in our event calendar.
