Talk Overview:
Miles Scherer, from Little Ray’s Nature Center, will be joined by amazing live animal ambassadors to educate on why wildlife is so important and how we can all help protect the natural world! Joining Miles will be:

Ball Python: Also known as “Royal pythons” because royalty in East Africa used to wear them ALIVE as jewelry!

Corn Snake: Native to Southeastern US and important in balancing rodent populations!

Bearded Dragon: Perfectly adapted for desert-life and look just like real DRAGONS!

Crested Gecko: Thought to be extinct for over a century until they were rediscovered in 1994!

Russian Tortoise: These awesome animals may look like turtles, but they can’t swim!

Ferret: Did you know a group of ferrets is called “a business”?

Armadillo: Part of a prehistoric family group of animals called “Xenarthrons”, their closest relatives are the Sloth and Anteater!
Biography:
Miles Scherer, zookeeper and educator with Little Ray’s Nature Center. As a current undergraduate student at Syracuse University studying environmental policy and international relations, Miles is passionate about connecting science with action and has worked with wildlife across continents including South Florida, Spain, Madagascar, and more!
