Cazenovia College Presents BioBlitz
Kids of all ages are invited to learn about local fish, amphibians, plants, and invertebrates during the BioBlitz event taking place at Lakeland Park from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 (in case of thunderstorms, Sept. 26).
Cazenovia College students will have organized stations where participants will learn about organisms commonly found in local lakes, wetlands, and forests.
If you want to try netting fish or sampling plants with a rake-toss, please wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. Fish can be observed in a temporary “mini-pond,” and you can try kayaking or a stand-up paddleboard at a Learn-to-Paddle station courtesy of Morse Kayak Rentals.
Cazenovia College students will help young biologists keep track of their “BioBlitz Passport” and guide them around the stations (children must still be accompanied by an adult).
Feel free to bring a picnic lunch and some lawn chairs so we can spread out to play some bingo!
As always, the event is free and open to the public, and questions may be directed to Professor Thad Yorks at 655-7148 or teyorks@cazenovia.edu.
See BioBlitz for photos and videos from previous years.
