2024 TACNY Summer STEM Trekker Program

TACNY offers an annual STEM Trekkers program in the summer where middle schoolers experience an opportunity in science, technology, engineering, and math. This year’s program has a focus on aerodynamics, bio-materials and polymers, and lake science. These STEM concepts are locally connected to industry and organizations in our community!

Who Should Attend?
Any student entering grades 5 thru 9 with an interest in learning new things, asking questions, and seeing the “why” and “how” flight works in nature and aircraft, improving materials, polymers, and lake science!

How to Attend:

July 16 – 18 at Syracuse University from 8:30 – 4:30. Swag, snacks, lunch and field trips all included for free!

Drop off and pick up for all sessions is Link Hall, Syracuse University. 

Session Overview:

  • Tues, July 16th: Lake Mixing Project with Syracuse University Professor, Dr. Svetoslava Todorova and engineering students; Tour of ESF, Tour of Onondaga Lake Restoration Center
  • Wed, July 17th: Bio-materials with Syracuse University Professor Dr. Eric Finkelstein; Tour of SUNY ESF Polymer Department
  • Thurs, July 18th: Aerodynamics with Syracuse University Professor Dr. Yiyang Sun and engineering students, supersonic airplane activity

Note: Please note that students who can attend all three days will be considered first for entry into the program
